Tahmina Shamsheri
Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2017)At the time of the QE Scholarship, Tahmina was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program specializing in Global Health. She always had an interest in the macro approach to health and how various actors within the system come about to impact change via policy reformation. She became particularly interested in the role of policy in facilitating health innovation adoption through an internship in the MaRS EXCITE program.
As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Tahmina interned at the Innovation and Research Unit at the National Health Service (NHS) in London, United Kingdom. Tahmina worked on several projects that strengthened the innovation ecosystem in the NHS. In particular she was part of a project addressing the lack of consistent evidence requirements for digital health technologies. During her internship, Tahmina hoped to develop a nuanced understanding of the NHS and the role of innovation in producing better value for a health system.
