Peter Belesiotis
Fellow and Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2019)At the time of the Forum Fellowship and QE Scholarship, Peter was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) Program at McMaster University. Peter’s research interests included harm reduction programs, evidence-based care in cardiology, and the use of clinical whole exome and genome sequencing platforms.
As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Peter interned at the Africa Centre for Evidence (ACE) located at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa under the supervision of Prof. Ruth Stewart. During his internship, he created evidence syntheses for policymakers regarding public engagement with information and the news in Nigeria and South Africa.
Following his time with the Forum, Peter went on to complete his MD at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University. As of summer 2025 he is an internal medicine resident at the University of Toronto, based primarily at Toronto General Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital. Peter’s current research interests include evidence-based care in gastroenterology and the use of clinical whole exome and genome sequencing platforms. He aims to complete subspecialty training in gastroenterology.
