Alexandra Kilian
Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2016)At the time of the QE Scholarship, Alexandra was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program. She explored her interest in global health and health policy through involvement with the McMaster Health Forum for two years on the Student Leadership Team and through a third-year inquiry project under the supervision of Dr. John Lavis. Additionally, she has extensive clinical research experience in neuro-oncology.
As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Alexandra travelled to Australia to intern at the Sax Institute where she hoped to bridge her interest in clinical research and policy making for health systems strengthening. Alexandra was eager to learn about the advocacy and research methods related to health systems strengthening, and to consider the challenges and processes of knowledge translation between disciplines that work within and outside of health systems.
