Inna Berditchevskaia

At the time of the QE Scholarship, Inna was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program. She developed a thorough interest in the social determinants of health and factors contributing to disease. This interest arose in part through her experiences in a clinical pediatric research setting, investigating motivators for adolescent lifestyle habits. Throughout her undergraduate career, Inna also worked at length with regulation and internal policy at the student union level.

As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Inna travelled to Trinidad & Tobago to intern at the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). Through her time with CARPHA, Inna assisted with a stakeholder dialogue on healthy food environments which she hoped would deepen her understanding of the roles of various stakeholders in policy development and the political processes by which solutions are developed and decisions are made.
