Inna Berditchevskaia
Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2016)Inna is an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program. She has developed a thorough interest in the social determinants of health and factors contributing to disease. This interest arose in part through her experiences in a clinical pediatric research setting, investigating motivators for adolescent lifestyle habits. Throughout her undergraduate career, she has also worked at length with regulation and internal policy at the student union level. She is eager to bridge these interests and experiences in the context of health policy.
As an outgoing Queen Elizabeth Scholar, she will be travelling to Trinidad & Tobago to intern at the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). Through her time with CARPHA, Inna will assist with a stakeholder dialogue on healthy food environments which she hopes will deepen her understanding of the roles of various stakeholders in policy development and the political processes by which solutions are developed and decisions are made.
