Pippy Walker

Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2018)

Pippy is currently completing a Master of Public Health and Health Management at the University of New South Wales in Australia. She has previously completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in nutrition, dietetics and exercise rehabilitation, and has experience working as both a dietitian and exercise physiologist in various primary care settings. It was here that Pippy developed a passion for preventing chronic disease, improving health care systems and translating research into practice.

Pippy currently works as a Research Officer with The Australian Prevention Partnership Centre, based at the Menzies Centre for Health Policy at the University of Sydney. Her current work is looking at effective models of care and strategies for the prevention and management of chronic disabling pain in the primary care setting. As an incoming Queen Elizabeth Scholar she hopes to draw upon the knowledge and skills she has gained in strengthening health systems with the McMaster Health Forum to inform her approach to this work.
