Shraddha Mishra

Shraddha is a student in the dual MD/PhD program and supervised by Mike Wilson for the Health Policy PhD component. She has co-led global research and advocacy aimed at advancing community participation in health policymaking. A focus on evaluating and informing participatory reforms are guiding her praxis as an MD/PhD student and future physician-scientist. Shraddha's research is supported by a Vanier scholarship.

At the time of the QE Scholarship, Shraddha was an undergraduate student in Bachelor of Health Sciences program at McMaster University. Broadly, her research foci included workplace equity and inclusion, the extent to which intersectionality is captured within various arenas of literature, and the multilevel factors shaping one’s wellbeing. Shraddha supported the development and administration of the 2019 School Mental Health Surveys, measurement tools arising from a collaboration between the Offord Centre for Child Studies and School Mental Health Ontario. Under McMaster University’s Department of Pediatrics, Shraddha helped scope literature surrounding the resilience amidst adversity of racialized 2SLGBTQIA+ people.

As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Shraddha interned at the George Institute for Global Health in India. She supported the Community Action for Health in India (CAHI) project, which evaluated community engagement efforts for universal health care in India. Through this work, Shraddha hoped to better understand (1) strategies for centering community members’ voices in the evaluation of engagement efforts, (2) the structure of India’s healthcare system, and (3) health needs within rural India. Shraddha planned to apply her learnings in her future career of using community engagement for health promotion among marginalized populations.
